MicroCredential Model
MicroCredential Learning Model
Success after high school can’t always be determined by letter grades, test scores, or GPS’s. The MicroCredential model and framework will give students the opportunity to show evidence of what they are learning, and provide tangible proof of their knowledge through verified, competency-based certifications that students earn by demonstrating mastery of specific skills. This learning model aims to strengthen traditional academics in a rapidly changing skills-based economy.
JAG-K is proud to partner with JMG and GenUS to bring their MicroCredential model to the state of Kansas in JAG-K classrooms in high schools across the state.
What does this look like in action?
- Prepares students for both college and career through measurable, skill-based evidence learning
- Strengthens school-to-community partnerships through employer engagement
- Creates visible indicators of student achievement that go beyond GPA and test scores
- Expands our capacity to deliver personalized, future-focused instruction without requiring curricular overhaul
What Are the Credentials?
MicroCredential Skill Builders
Much like JAG-K, the MicroCredential model isn’t isolated to high school students – middle school students, as well as students that do not participate in a standard JAG-K program, are able to participate in the new learning model and framework through Skill Builder MicroCredentials, a system designed to help learners gain foundational skills while building confidence and motivation, as well as work as a stepping stone and introduction to the MicroCredential Learning Model.
