The November recipient was DeeAnn Matheson and the December recipient was Raina Tomlinson.

According to the release, Matheson is a lifelong resident of Russell. Her heart is firmly rooted in her community. When Mathenson is not dedicating her time to serving others, she cherishes moments with her family and finds joy in helping them however she can. Her unwavering dedication makes her an invaluable part of the Russell community. Matheson is a board member at the food pantry, and deeply involved in the Russell VFW Auxiliary, Kiwanis and her church.

Tomlinson’s numerous nominations describe her as a passionate local leader whose dedication and innovative spirit have a tremendous positive impact on local youth. As a JAG-K Specialist at Russell Junior-Senior High School, she works to instill a passion and drive in local youth to become leaders within our community and beyond. She has inspired local business owners to recognize and invest in our local youth through career development opportunities, such as those offered through her partnership with the Ogallala Commons Community Internship Program. Tomlinson also volunteers her time to Community for Classrooms and is a foster parent.

Matheson and Tomlinson each received $250 to donate to a non-profit of their choice. Matheson chose the Russell Play Park project and Tomlinson chose the Russell High School Internship Program.

The Russell Community Impact Award recognizes individuals, businesses or organizations whose exceptional contributions have significantly enriched the fabric of the Russell community.

Nominations for the award can be submitted online at  russellcity.org  or downloaded from  russellcity.org  or  KRSL.com. Additionally, nomination forms are available for pickup at the City Building at 133 West 8th Street, or KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio at 1984 North Main Street.
