CONCORDIA –Students from Concordia High School, Hutchinson High School, Junction City High School, Junction City Larry Dixon Center, Newton High School, Salina West Alternative High School, Salina South High School, and Salina Central High School met for the North Central Regional Career Development Conference (CDC) hosted at Cloud County Community College.
CDC Events included Public Speaking, Employability Skills, Math Skills, Project Based Learning, Mapping My Future, and JAG-K Entrepreneurs. The competitions allowed students the opportunity to showcase the skills they are learning in the competency-based curriculum of the JAG-K program.
The top three finishers in each event advanced to compete at the State Career Development Conference on April 18 at Emporia State University. Congratulations to the following individuals (listed 1st – 3rd place):
Public Speaking: Linda Moyo, Newton HS; Kira Sheppard, Hutchinson HS; Tyesha Smith, Salina Central HS.
Project Based Learning: Xavier Reavis and Victor Devora, Salina South HS; Dilyn Staton, Hutchinson HS; Asia Hill and Cynthia Romero, Newton HS.
Employability Skills: Rebeka Hittle, Junction City HS; Karina Carrillo, Salina Central HS; Jolie White, Junction City HS.
Math Skills: Jaymes Shrader, Hutchinson HS; Tyler Allen, Salina South HS; Caitlin Lyall, Newton HS.
Mapping My Future: Kylee Breon, Newton HS; Hannah Stanphill, Junction City HS; Laura Bilson, Hutchinson HS.
JAG-K Entrepreneurs: Mckenzie Edmonds and Emilee Fowler, Hutchinson HS; Krystyan Thomas and David Mendoza, Newton HS.
Hutchinson High School earned first place in the team score competition followed by Newton High School in second place.
JAG-K Students and Staff enjoyed the North Central Regional CDC at Cloud County Community College.
